Thanks to my great mates, I was able to celebrate my birthday and 冬至 with them. It was quite a rush as it falls on the last day of the term. However, it was certainly fun. Not sure about my mates though.
My Birthday & 冬至
It was the first time for me to celebrate my birthday together with another person who share the exact same birthday with me except that she is 3 years younger! Amazingly, she is from Ipoh as well!
As I dont really like big party so I've only invited few friends for a formal oriental dinner. Also, as my birthday was the same day as the winter solstice, decided to made some "tong yuen" as desserts. The last time I made them was during 2005 in K2. I still remember I got a jumbo love shaped one that was specially made for my birthday by my dear friends. Now that I am in England, having a bowl of hot and delicious self-made tong yuen certainly gave me a great feel of satisfaction. (I dont remember when was the last time I had them anyway). Anyway, I only prepared the dough while the girls making them into proper pieces.
Not forgetting my friends and family members from Malaysia who kept on texting me their greetings...Thanks a bunch people. There is one special person whom I must really mention, Miss Chang Pei Shan a.k.a my god-sis. Well, i still remember I got a "wun luin pai" from her for my 21st which I was really touched for that. This year, I jokingly mentioned to her once that I couldnt afford mamee snacks in England, but she remember it well enough till she send me 10 packs of Mamee snacks, OMG! (Was hoping for a "wun luin pai" sweater this time actually....haha...) Seriously, the postage was really expensive and I am really happy about it but should I really follow what you've told me: "Share the mamee snacks with William?" NO, I dont think so. Also thank you "you-know-who-you-are" for the little card and the call which I was unable to pick, and finally, my housemates (Allen you are as well) and "you" for the hoodies, scarf and glove. :)
Christmas and Boxing Day
This Christmas was a really special one. 3 traditional Christmas dinners, 2 steamboats and traditional home made portugese cake. That were the special dishes/cuisines I had for this Christmas season. The first dinner was at Alex house - Had a large hard-to-cut roasted turkey with funny-taste-vegetables and the most interesting of all; a christmas pudding with fire-burning-brandy on it. Second was at Rob's - Had a large roasted turkey breast with bacon, roasted pork and vege. Third was not traditional but a typical british dinner in Gt Yarmouth - roasted pheasant with bacon and grape gravy which was really fantastic! However, I also found two real bullets in my mouth while chewing the pheasant which I was really suprised of - Is it a sign of lucky? Can you imagine that? Another person whom I shall thank, Maria, for the hot fresh, just completed, traditional home made Portugese cake.
I like them! Thank you so much for your kindness. Bless you. Finally, the people I appreciate most, my family members. Thank you for everything especially the seafood steamboats :p. There are still a lot of food/new dishes that I've tried. I should mentioned and upload the photos of them but I guess better not cause my friends will be annoyed by that for some reasons.
