Today, I wake up a little early than usual which I don't normally do on Thursday morning because of work till late night on Wednesday. Reason for waking up? I missed someone and I wanted to see that person. Somehow, things became disastrous. Caused me a great pain. Do not understand how but there is a big "emptiness" in me. Its just empty.... When I came home from work today...I received two parcels...As I expected, they were sent by the person I missed.
Under normal circumstances, I would be very very happy about it but now, I am wordless...Again...All I can feel now is "emptiness".
When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee. A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.'
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.
The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first-the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. 'I'm glad you asked.
It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'
So...Less than 7 days ago, my housemate received his long waiting HD projector, optoma 700. Currently projecting a 120 inches screen and when combined with a 5.1 surround system...this turn our bored and cold living room into a little home cinema. I guess its not too much to have that since he worked hard for the enjoyment. I am cutting the crap and let you look at the quality of the projector. I was watching mobile suit gundam 00 with it and it was brilliant. We tested it with a nintendo wii too and as expected, it was awesome. However there was a little disappointment though. Reason? When we were using it to play shooting games, the cursors just were not responding as we hoped they would be. May be the screen is just too big for playing shooting games. Anyway, we are very satisfied with its performance and the only remaining problem now is to get good quality video.
Now that I have been working for about 3 months...It just makes me wondering whether what should I achieve in 5 years time. Shall I return to my home country or shall I just remain here. Or may be I should go to Australia which I am desperate to go to at the moment . Not that I am entirely lost, it's just that I doubt whether I will end up being unemployed and then it creates all sorts of problems similar to those in a movie called "Money-Not-Enough". Workload for the time beng is okay. Handling two projects at the same time but I guess it is nothing compare to my senior engineers who are managing 3 to 5 project each at a time. I must admit that all my senior engineers are very good engineers. Salute for their amazing experiences and thank them for teaching me bit by bit of those engineering stuffs.I have completed my first ever project a month ago and it was pretty amazing to have learnt all sorts of industrial engineering things which I have got not a clue when I was in Uni. Lucky enough to have some programming skills remained somewhere in my brain, the HMI designed by me is fully functional. As a result, the client award my company with another two similar projects or put it this way, indirectly the client is going to give the company more business. :)At the moment, I am about to finish phase one of my current project. For phase one, I have done all sorts of electrical design and drawings while compiling the part list which I guessed made my senior engineer a little pissed off cause those drwaings were way off the standard one. To be honest I have got no idea of the ideal way of doing it at the begining until he taught me the proper way to do it. And now I have to order those d*mn expensive tools which mainly comes from the US and so it is going to take a d*mn long time reach England. Entering the phase two of the current project meaning it's time to do software design again which is my favourite! Hope this one goes in well too then I'll be satisfied with my performance for the time being.
Today is definitely one the most memorable day so far. Why? Cause the dumb me make a mistake of remembering the wrong birthday of her. Been feeling guilty the whole day as I just do not understand how careless can I be. Well, although I am forgiven but I just couldn't forgive myself. I thought I have another ten days from the 18th to complete the website I am making for her and the parcel should reach by that time as well but somehow I just screwed up everything by remembering the wrong date of her birthday. It just made me feel that the effort of providing a memorable birthday is all worthless at this point. Anyhow, according to her, it was a "Memorable" birthday which makes me wondering she was definitely not okay with my stupid mistake. A day earlier she was like not really care to talk to me cause I did not wish her anything or say something which I am supposed to say. Again I am stupid enough for just asking her what was the problem and not realizing that it was her birthday. Now that I thought of it...I really do feel that I am a big failure as a partner. Alright, let me just describe what I have done on the day earlier, Monday 17th. As usual, woke up at 8 and reached office at 9. As all my electrical design drawings were overdue for 2days, I was really busy rushing them to my client and worse still, my senior engineer told me that we were going to have the design review postponed to Thursday due to his personal reason. Just for your information, design reviews are being done on-site which is about 90mins drive from Sheffield which means I have to get up very early. That was definitely not a good idea cause I have to work on Wednesday night so I was forced to swap my Wednesday shift with Steven.By the way, I worked untill half eight on Monday so I was truly exhausted the next day. Finally, I got all my drawings done and sent to the client on Tuesday, 18th Nov so I got home early with the thought of sleeping early. To my suprise, I didn't remember that I have got the ticket for a football match, England U21 vs Czech Rep U21 untill my mates let me know. So I went for the match. Not realizing that the 18th of November has passed on the Eastern side of the Earth, I was having my laksa at a chinese restaurant. The worst thing happened when I received two e-mails from her. Quite sure that the content of e-mails are pretty obvious to any reader. My first impression was, "Is this some kind of jokes?" Then when I confirmed that it wasn't a joke...I trully felt so sorry. Anyway, I wished you a very happy belated birthday, MS a.k.a BB
Somehow, I feel so pumped up to write a lot of stuffs. Like all my europe trips so and things about my friends. As far as I remember, I know many of my friends' birthday are in August and due to heavy workload and time difference, I never had the chance to call them which I normally did. Not just that, it's also been a very long time I have not had phone conversations with friends in Malaysia so I do feel a little out date with you people. Never know what you people been up to lately. The best I can do for the time being is facebook-ing. :) Anyway, there should be more stuffs on the blog soon.
Three days ago, I was officially in the United Kingdom for 731days which also means that I have left home for the same amount of time. Having stayed here for that long, it is long enough till I dont actually desperate for the foods in Malaysia anymore. In other words, the crave for it has faded and that tongue of mine are used to the taste of english foods. So you people out there wont be able to tempt me with those foods anymore!!!
Thinking back of two years ago when I just arrived in the UK, I was just a small size skinny boy. Today, I still look that skinny and I wonder what can I do to make myself look bigger? Now, what have I achieved so far? I don't know. Perhaps a bachelor degree? Is a bachelor degree good enough? May be. But there are Masters and PhD students almost everywhere in the UK. Why am I staying here? Questions like that keep on popping into my mind and it never ends. It seems like living a simple life is a hard thing to do especially in a complicated environment. I tend to feel that I am a little bit lost when I think of what am I going to do in 5 years time.
There was once a Chinese Nobel prize winner gave a speech during a tv show, "If you know What You Are Doing and What You Are Going To Do, then 99% you'll be a successful person. Okay, so I am doing what most of every other graduates do, getting a job but still I am not sure what am I going to do in the near future. Whatever it is, I feel like going home for the time being.
So, it was 8 months ago since the last I updated my blog. Some of my pals were asking what happened to me? Well, nothing. I was just too lazy to scribble down some words on the site and I was busy studying and seeking for jobs. Then why am I free to update it now? Cause I have graduated two months ago and I have got time. Let's just put it this way, I am too boring and again, I am too lazy to do other stuffs. :) For those who wonder how do I look like now...here you go, one of my latest photo.
