Winter solstice once again

Winter solstice festival or 冬至 has normally falls on or around 22nd of December every year. It marks the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere of the earth. An important day for the Chinese and also for me. Not just because of the fest itself but it is also the day that I am officially 24th. Mooooooo...Again its a completion of an animal cycle of the chinese lunar calendar - Cow.

Well, this is the third Winter solstice fest that I have had in UK and this year, it is quite different; it's snowing heavily for the first time in December since I was here. Exceptionally freezing and windy at this time of the year. Perhaps that is why I do not even remember about having tong yuen this year.

Past few weeks has been quite troublesome. Mainly about moving into a new flat. Lots of things to be organised. Lots of things to buy and lots of cleaning up. Snowing and chilly wind makes it harder to move our stuff. Anyhow, glad it's all done now. Got all the furnitures assembled. Got the agent to send in the fridge today and got the broadband working at last. It's all good and comfy!

Below are some of the things I spent my time on for the past few weeks.

And below are some random photos taken

So that's my new flat and I have settled in it now. Really glad that everything turns out okay before Christmas. Speaking of Christmas, I have had some good times with my colleagues on my company's dinner. Funny that I was being challenge by my boss to see how many pints I can take before I am down and well, a bit shameful to say that only 9 pints of strong ale and I have stopped drinking- Not because I am drunk, because my stomach is too full of liquid! ;)

Always happy times does not last long. I say this because I am thinking of the months ahead. Will be super busy commisioning the injection system that I have spent months to design. Also Chinese New Year in February and lots of people have asked me wheter am I going back home for the new year. Am thinking all the fun with family and friends that I will missed. Wish I could go back but it will be most unlikely to happen because of work. :< As Qian Fang said...If you think England is the best place to be, think again.
